Our Story

స్తుతి గీతాలు

A love letter to the Indian Church — and to every believer who has ever searched for the words to a song that moved their soul.

How it began

A Sunday morning,
a song we couldn't find.

It started with a simple frustration. During a church gathering, the congregation wanted to sing a beloved old Telugu hymn — one that grandparents had sung for decades. But no one could remember all the words. A quick search on the internet turned up nothing useful: scattered PDFs, blurry scans, incorrect transliterations, and pages buried behind sign-up walls.

That moment revealed a real gap. Millions of Indian Christians worship every week in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Marathi. Their songs — hymns passed down through generations, modern worship anthems, scripture songs — are the soundtrack of their faith. Yet there was no single place to find them all, cleanly typeset, in the right script, with proper transliteration for those who read in English.

So we decided to build it ourselves.

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

— Psalm 33:3

Worship is one of the most universal human expressions of faith. We wanted every believer — no matter their language, age, or denomination — to have instant access to the words that draw them closer to God.

Psalm 96:1–2

2

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

3

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything.

Ephesians 5:19–20

What We Stand For

Our values

Accuracy First

Every lyric goes through a careful review before it is published. We care deeply about preserving the exact words of each song — because the words matter.

Every Language, Every Heart

India's Christians worship in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, English — and more. No language should be left behind in God's house.

Completely Free

We will never put lyrics behind a paywall. Worship is not a product. LyricsGospel is, and will always be, a free gift to the Body of Christ.

Community-Powered

We are a small team, but the Church is vast. Every submission, every correction, every share by our community makes this resource stronger.

For the diaspora

Rooted in faith,
no matter where you are.

Hundreds of thousands of Indian Christians live far from home — in the UK, USA, the Gulf, Australia, and beyond. They carry their faith with them, but sometimes the songs of their childhood feel just out of reach. Children born abroad grow up hearing these hymns at home but struggle to read Telugu or Tamil script.

LyricsGospel's transliteration feature was built specifically for them — so a second-generation Indian in London can sing along to a Telugu worship song in a font they can read, and feel just as connected to their heritage as the elders sitting beside them.

Faith is not lost in translation. It is strengthened by it.

How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
